Gwinnett County Jail Inmate Dies By Suicide: Reports

The inmate has been held on a probation violation at the jail since Dec. 15, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County Detention Center inmate died this week after being found unconscious on Wednesday, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

According to the report, the inmate, 40-year-old Jeremiah Wendt, was being held without bail on a probation violation and outstanding warrants.

In a statement, the county sheriff's department told the publication Wendt was given medical care but "did not survive his injuries."

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports Wendt had been booked into the jail three previous times.
