It's National Law Enforcement Day - Hug A Cop

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - They catch the bad guys. They protect our schools. They solve crimes and generally keep us safe. It's National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

“Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I want to thank all those men and women who work hard every day, serving our local communities and our state, said Gov. Brian Kemp. "I hope all Georgians, when they see a law enforcement officer today, will thank them for their service.”

You need to take this one day a year to thank the men and women of all law enforcement agencies who choose to protect and serve each and every day. Here are some ways you can do that.

* Fly a blue ribbon on your car antenna, mailbox or wherever else you can tie one

* Shine blue lights from your home

* Wear blue all day

* Send a card or have a school class send a card to a local department

* Host or attend a rally in support of law enforcement

* Participate in the National Blue Blood Drive and give blood in honor of those who serve

* Most importantly, if you see a police officer today, thank them
