Juneteenth Celebration Set For June 22 In Lawrenceville
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery. The celebration is on Saturday at Rhodes Jordan Park.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett Community Outreach, Gwinnett Parks and Recreation, and the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County Inc. are sponsoring Juneteenth on June 22 at Rhodes Jordan Park.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the U.S., Gwinnett County said in a news release. It is a time to celebrate African-American freedom and achievement while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures, the county added.
The free event will feature storytelling, performances, historical presentations, dancing, vendors, bounce houses, games, and food trucks. The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rhodes Jordan Park is located at 100 East Crogan Street, Lawrenceville.
