Lawrenceville Golfer Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championship

A college golfer from Lawrenceville moves on to play at the U.S. Amateur Championship in August.

Zach Estep, a senior on Southern Mississippi's men's golf team, shot rounds of 71-67 and finished six-under par at the qualifier at the Athens Country Club in Athens Tuesday.

"I played really well," said Estep, a Peachtree Ridge grad, in a release. "I made a few clutch putts down the stretch on the back nine and a lot of good par saves. It just feels good to finally get in after trying for the last five years."

The U.S. Amateur Championship takes place at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. August 12-18.
