Man Charged With Girlfriend's Murder In Lawrenceville: Police

Police say they located the victim's body in the doorway of her home in unincorporated Lawrenceville​.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA—A man is behind bars and accused of killing his girlfriend. According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, Arief McKenzie, 50, is charged with aggravated assault and murder. The victim has been identified as Jillian Myles-Walters, 36, of Lawrenceville.

"These individuals had a relationship with each other prior to this incident and the motive is domestic related," police said in a news release.

On Tuesday shortly before 6 a.m., police say they responded to Herrington Woods Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville after a neighbor reported hearing a domestic disturbance.

After arriving on scene, officers say they located Myles-Walters's body in the doorway of her home. There were other occupants inside of the residence; however, no one else was harmed during this incident.

At this time, police have not said what circumstances led up to the victim's death and continue to investigate the case.
