McKendree Assistant Principal Dies Following Fall

An Assistant Principal at a Lawrenceville elementary school has died after an accident.

In a letter sent to parents at McKendree Elementary School on Monday, Gwinnett County Public Schools says Jennifer Niday passed away from injuries sustained from a fall. 

WSB-TV reports the 36 year old mother of two boys was visiting friends in Athens, Ga. over the weekend when she fell down a flight of stairs and hit her head.

Niday worked with the school since 2008. She served as Assistant Principal for the 4th and 5th grades.

McKendree Principal Loretta Denmark sent a letter to parents letting them know of Niday's death and how to talk to students about the news. Grief counselors were also on campus Tuesday to talk to students.
