LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett Animal Welfare is teaming up with shelters across the country for its annual pet adoption event Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All adoptions will be free at this event, which includes kid-friendly activities, vendors, and resources for pet owners, Gwinnett County said in a news release. All pets adopted have been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.

"We are still offering free adoptions through August 3! All pets adopted have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you fall in love with one of our heartworm-positive pups, we will cover the treatment for you as long as you can provide a place for recovery," the county added.

The shelter is located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.
