Police Seeking Injured Dog's Owner in Gwinnett

The spaniel mix, Mandy, had broken ribs and three fractures to her legs when she was found at an apartment complex, police said.

DULUTH, GA — A six-month-old puppy was found in Gwinnett County with multiple significant injuries and now police want to talk to her owner.

The puppy, now named Mandy, was found at The Columns at Club Drive apartment complex, at 3920 Club Drive in Duluth, on February 27. The brown-and-white pup was brought to Gwinnett County's animal shelter by a passerby in the complex.

A forensic veterinarian and other doctors from the University of Georgia found the puppy had multiple fractures to three of her legs. The fractures all were at different stages of healing, suggesting she got the injuries at different times.

Gwinnett County Police officers canvassed the area, but were never able to find out any information about Mandy's owner. Veterinarians performed surgery to put pins in her legs and those injuries are healing well, police say.

She is currently in the Gwinnett County Jail Dog program at the Gwinnett County Jail. How she was injured remains under investigation.
