Snellville Father, Son Shot By Robber: Gwinnett Police
The Gwinnett police arrested a 17-year-old Thursday and identified him as the suspect in the shooting of a Snellville father and son.
SNELLVILLE, GA — A father and his 10-year-old son are recovering from their wounds after being shot Thursday morning, Oct. 17, in the garage of their home by an intruder, according to the Gwinnett County police. They did not identify the shooting victims, but said they sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The police identified the intruder as Jacobi Chomicki, 17, who was apprehedned about 90 minutes later in the Snellville area when he was bitten by a police dog during a manhunt.
A paramedic treated his injury, and Chomicki was taken to police headquarters in Lawrenceville, where he remained in custody Thursday with detectives until he could be booked into the county jail, the police said.

They were checking the area due to a car break-in nearby when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. They tried to pull it over, but the two individuals inside jumped out and fled on foot.
The police then received a report at about 7:30 a.m. of a shooting at a residence on Countryside Way, about half a mile away.
Upon arrival, officers found that the home's owner and his 10-year-old son had been shot, but "their injuries were not life-threatening," the police report stated.
The homeowner told the officers that he encountered an individual in his garage, later identified by the police as Chomicki, attempting to steal a bicycle.
The homeowner confronted the would-be robber, who pulled out a handgun and shot at the father and son, then fled on foot, the police said.
They said Thursday that Chomicki was one of the two individuals who fled from the suspicious vehicle; the other one was still at large.
The police set up a perimeter in the neighborhood around Countryside Way and called in a SWAT team, a helicopter and a K-9 unit (an officer with a specially trained dog).
At about 9 a.m., the K-9 unit tracked down Chomicki to a vehicle parked on Lenora Road and arrested him. The dog bit him during the arrest, the police said.
