LAWRENCEVILE, GA –– Entrepreneur Milton Collier is a retired Army logistical veteran who believes in contributing to his community while giving his fellow brothers and sisters in the military an opportunity to excel.

After 15 years in the Army, Collier started his own freight business when his wife heard about Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program, which helps entrepreneurs build their own companies to help deliver packages for Amazon. The program’s offer of technology support, package delivery volumes and Amazon’s pledge to cover up to $10,000 in startup costs for veterans made Collier take the leap and open a delivery company, TranMazon, in September 2018.

"With my Army background in logistics and all the support Amazon offers, the business was a no brainer for me," Collier said. "I mean Amazon is one of the biggest companies in the world. They give me the tools and resources I need to be successful. They even help with payroll and banking."

Since starting his company about six months ago, Collier’s been able to grow TranMazon to 75 employees, and 30 delivery vans. His team delivers to Amazon customers in Gwinnett and Fulton counties.

Collier, whose daughter is in the Army and son is in the Air Force, said he looks forward to helping more veterans as his business grows.

"I'm having a lot of fun working with vets," he said. "I've been going to military job fairs and going to the military bases in Georgia and looking for soldiers who are transitioning out of the military and can come aboard. Growing my business with them will be awesome."

Collier, who grew up in south Georgia, said he especially appreciates the opportunity to give back to the military community, helping other local veterans transition to civilian life and providing jobs for them with someone who’s been through that major change.
