Alligator Spotted In Gwinnett

LILBURN, GA -- A five-foot alligator has been spotted in a Gwinnett County pond.
WSB-TV is reporting that the gator has been seen several times in the one-acre pond in Lilburn. The pond is shared by two property owners.

Alligators are not uncommon in south Georgia, but they don't typically range into the Piedmont area, which includes metro Atlanta.
However, as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution notes, this is the third alligator spotted in the metro area recently.

The so-called Chattahoochee Gator was trapped earlier this spring at Cochran Shoals in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, just a little northwest of Buckhead.
And a gator known as Flat Creek Floyd has been spotted near Peachtree City.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' wildlife division has been contacted about the Lilburn gator.
