Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will be well-represented this week at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair as more than 60 Gwinnett County projects will compete with others from throughout the state.
The 63 projects from 25 different GCPS middle and high schools are the work of 83 GCPS students. Through these projects, the middle and high school students earned first place at the Gwinnett County Regional Science and Engineering Fair in February.
The Georgia Science and Engineering Fair takes place March 21-23, 2013, in Athens.

The Gwinnett Regional Science and Engineering Fair, held in late February at the Gwinnett Center, celebrated science and engineering in grades K-12 and is one of the largest Science and Engineering Fairs in Georgia. The event featured the work of 1,029 students from public, private schools, and local home-school students in Gwinnett County. With more than 700 student projects in this year’s regional fair, the Gwinnett Regional Fair celebrated the largest level of participation in the fair’s history.
"Not only was the fair large, but the quality of projects was also impressive," says Dr. Jonathon Wetherington, GCPS director of science. "Thanks to our partnership with Jackson EMC, Cisco, and other companies, our community was able to witness first-hand science instruction come to life. We congratulate our students and wish them the best as they move on to compete at the state level."
