The cat is out of the bag and his name is Trump
The GOP may be long overdue for some chemo

Donald Trump is at it again and the GOP only has themselves to blame. The last time Donald Trump was making political waves was when he ran for president on a birther platform. At the time the GOP had an opportunity to slow his momentum before he grew into this so-called “cancer to conservatism.” Unfortunately they chose to aid him in his efforts to undermine President Obama by attacking his policies on immigration reform, race baiting, and even going so far as questioning his birthright citizenship. After that spectacular display of wingnuttery, we had hoped that would be the last we would see of Trump in politics; but (evidently) that was wishful thinking. Friends, he’s back...more insane than ever and the current GOP frontrunner in the 2016 presidential primaries (to the surprise of no one on the left). And y’all know what the worst part is? Most of the right was perfectly fine with Trump until he went after John McCain’s war record.
Isn’t it sad that it took Trump stating, “I don’t think McCain is a war hero”, to get the GOP to stand up and say “enough is enough.” As if John McCain’s ego is the only issue that matters. Now I am not saying McCain isn’t a hero (McCain is a hero, no doubt about that!) but when Trump called every mexican immigrant in the United States a rapist, criminal, and a drug dealer, where was the GOP? Where was the righteous indignation and the concern that he may be “ruining the brand.” I’ll admit, yes, the RNC did say Trump’s immigration rhetoric was “not helping,” however, the other candidates never explicitly spoke out against Trump and they seldom attack him on any substantive issue. The man is constantly race baiting and talking about immigrants like they’re criminals, he even went so far as to call Jeb Bush’s wife an “illegal alien” on twitter. That is not a response. Fact of the matter is, they cannot attack Trump on immigration, race, or economics because his policies are their policies. His viewpoints are their viewpoints.
Whether the GOP wants to admit it or not, they created this “cancer to conservatism.” Look at their pundits. Look at the people that shape the American right’s worldview; people such as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Bill O’Reilly. If you’re surprised by Trumps rhetoric, save it. This language is nothing new from either the GOP or the American right. When the tea party materialized and found a home in the GOP, their establishment had an opportunity to moderate the tea party extremism. The GOP, instead, chose to fan the flames and let them take over the party. (Perhaps that was a bad idea?) Someone like Trump, who is currently leading by 11 percent, becoming the frontrunner of the RNC Primaries should come as no surprise. The GOP is gonna have to read the writing on the wall and face the music- Trump is the GOP Id. The GOP created him when they let his ilk’s brand of conservatism run roughshod over their party. The cat’s out of the bag and his name is Trump. This isn’t a new paradigm. He is a product of the GOP’s rhetoric and until the GOP admits that, or learns to stop flaming the flames of tea party conservatism, he will continue to lead in the polls. You reap what you sow, and the GOP certainly did a good job dropping the ball with this one. If Trump is a “cancer to conservatism,” the GOP may be long overdue for some chemo because y’all have had these same cancerous elements present for years. Don’t believe me? Click “here.”
