Flies, 'Mold-Like Debris' Found at Gwinnett McDonald's

The fast-food restaurant received a failing score of 60-U on its inspection Thursday.

LILBURN, GA -- Flies throughout the restaurant and a moldy ice maker were just a couple of the problems health inspectors found at a Lilburn McDonald's restaurant this week.

The McDonald's at 4133 Lawrenceville Hwy., received a failing score of 60-U after the inspection on Thursday.

Among a long list of concerns, inspectors noted "multiple flies throughout the facility," noting that more pest control needed to be done.

They also cited "mold-like debris" on the inside of two ice makers and made employees empty and clean the machines.

Cigarette butts were found on a shelf in a storage area, hamburgers were being served at less than the required 155-degree temperature and three containers of butter pats were being stored out in the open, not in cold storage.

Happy Meal boxes were being stored on the floor and to-go spoons had coffee splashes on them.

On the restaurant's last inspection, in September, it received a grade of 93-A.

According to state food-safety laws, the restaurant will be inspected again within 10 days.

If significant improvements aren't made, the health department could shut the restaurant down until its problems are fixed.
