Gwinnett City Allows Drive-Thru Liquor Purchases

This Gwinnett city just made purchasing alcohol as easy as getting a cheeseburger.

LILBURN, GA — The City of Lilburn just made purchasing alcohol as easy as getting a cheeseburger. The Lilburn City Council unanimously approved an ordinance allowing drive-thru liquor stores last week. During its May 14 meeting, the council gave the ok for liquor stores in the city to operate drive-thru windows if there is a canopy overhead and it's visible from the street or sidewalk.

The ordinance was approved 3-0 after being tabled during an April city council meeting.

The Highway 29 Package Store owner has already made a request for the ordinance change, but has not yet submitted plans or installed a drive-thru window at their location, according to Doug Stacks, Jr., Lilburn Planning and Economic Development director. No other stores have applied yet.
