Gwinnett Woman Threatens Store, Police With Bomb, AK-47: Police

According to police, the woman, who identified herself as "Jessica," told 911 dispatchers that "a lot of people are going to die today."

LILBURN, GA—Gwinnett County police have arrested a Lithonia woman after they say she made threats to GCPD’s south precinct and a local home improvement store. Jheri Leil Polite, 35, has since been charged with terroristic threats and transmitting a false public alarm.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 3:40 p.m., police say the GCPD 911 center received a phone call from a woman identifying herself as “Jessica” who stated that she was across the street from the south precinct, which is located at 2180 Stone Drive in Lilburn, and that “a lot of people are going to die today.”

About 30 minutes later, another phone call was received from the same phone number. This time, police said the suspect did not provide their name but stated that they were going to kill everyone at the south precinct with an AK-47.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at around 7:30 p.m., police said a call came into the 911 center from a woman claiming that she had a bomb at the Lowe’s at 4855 Stone Mountain Hwy. in unincorporated Lilburn, which is right across the street from the south precinct.

Police said the caller told dispatchers that everyone was going to die. The store was searched, and no threats were found.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, at around 9 a.m., a woman called the 911 center claiming that there was a bomb inside the same Lowe’s as the previous day’s call. Again, no credible threats were found, police said.

Detectives eventually identified a possible name and phone number belonging to Polite. Police ultimately arrested her at her home. She is currently incarcerated at the Gwinnett County jail.
