No City Elections, Town Hall Meeting Set

Lilburn's monthly city council meeting was held Monday, September 9 at City Hall at 7:30pm. Here are the highlights from that meeting:

• There will be no municipal elections in the City of Lilburn this year. No opponents for current city council members Tim Dunn and Eddie Price qualified. 
• Mayor Johnny Crist will provide updates on City projects at a Town Hall Meeting on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7pm at City Hall.
• The Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on Saturday, October 12. It is sponsored by the Lilburn Woman’s Club and the City of Lilburn. 
• Residents can apply for the 2013 Lilburn Christmas Parade on the city's website.
• The council approved the 2014 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant by a vote of 3-0. Council member Thomas Wight was not present at the meeting. The grant will be used to patch and resurface Church Street, Allen Court and Angie Court and to install an eight foot wide sidewalk along Killian Hill Road between Poplar and Church streets. Work on the project would begin in 2014.
• City council unanimously approved a preliminary engineering agreement with CSX Rail for a pedestrian bridge at Killian Hill Road. The project is part of a future Camp Creek Greenway Trail extension down Killian Hill to the city limits.
• A budget amendment totaling $17,712 to repair the chipper was approved by a vote of 3-0. $2,019 will come from the general fund and the rest from the capital projects fund. 
• The alcohol ordinance was amended by a vote of 3-0 to clarify that a reversal will not be considered for individuals who were denied pouring permits due to hardship. Also, special event licenses may not be transferred to another date.
