Revitalization Efforts Revived for Property Adjacent to Shopping District

Property near The Avenue Webb Gin, located in Lawrenceville and Snellville, has new owners. Gwinnett County officials expect to hear plans Sept. 4

According to media reports, a vacant lot adjacent to The Avenue Webb Gin -- now full of overgrown weeds -- has a new property owner, and new plans are in the works for revitilization.

"We are very excited to move forward with this project and are continuing to work with the adjacent neighborhoods to come up with a set of zoning conditions that will assure both sides of a successful development that will be an asset to the community," said Michael Sullivan, an attorney representing Scenic Capital in the land use hearings, as quoted in the Gwinnett Daily Post.

In 2008, demolition began on the Essex Drive subdivision beside The Avenue at Webb Gin to make way for a new shopping complex.

The homes were bought for a whopping $11 million, and subsequently destroyed, but the shopping center never came to fruition.

A total of 34 acres were created for development. (The Sola Fide Lutheran Church sold 12 acres.)
