Where do the Christmas puppies go? Creative idea!
Consider taking new puppies to dog daycare specifically designed for puppies at BarkTown Atlanta beginning Jan. 8th.
Christmas is a joyous time filled with friends and family, holiday cookies, food and presents. Among those presents are often new puppies. Families tend to get new canine additions over the holiday break when family is home to watch the puppy, train him or her and spend a lot of time devoted to the cute new bundle of joy. But what happens when everyone returns to school and work? The puppy stays at home and is not used to being alone so much. They can become frustrated and destructive. Potty training can reverse and things can get, well...messy.
Sadly, in the first three months of the new year more puppies will be returned to shelters, re-homed or dumped that any other time of the year. The reality of training and caring for puppies while balancing a work and family life overwhelms many families. They don't know what to do other than get rid of the animal and remove the problem from them home. With 7.6 million cats and dogs entering shelters nationwide yearly adding more puppies to the mixture is not the answer.
One local boarding and daycare facility is trying to solve this problem by keeping pets in the home with their help. Dog daycare is an option many people have not considered or feel they can not afford, however when you compare the cost to the cost home repairs, replaced furniture or extra toys and potty pads daycare can save you a tremendous amount of money and headaches.

BarkTown Atlanta is now offering special puppy playtime Mondays and Thursdays beginning Jan. 8. "The idea is to help these puppies develop into good dogs for their parents and prevent them from being given up," says Lauren Frost, manager of BarkTown. These puppy playtimes are specifically designed for puppies 3-11 months old. Think of them like daycare specifically tailored to puppies. We will make sure they have access to grassy yards during the day and reinforce their potty training, the dogs will play with other puppies and help develop social skills and they will work out their energy in a positive way during the day and be calm and sleepy at night after work.
One day of puppy playtime costs $24 and packages are available if you purchase 5, 10 or 20 days in advance. In addition to all these amazing benefits, the manager is also offering free advice to help you through their puppy hood. "I previously managed a dog shelter and new puppy owners have lots of questions. I am happy to help!" says Lauren.

BarkTown Atlanta is a new boarding and daycare facility with two acres of outdoor grassy yards and a staff of dog experts and lovers extraordinaire. BarkTown's motto is to treat every pet life family and they don't disappoint, just look at their Facebook reviews. "I boarded my 2 dogs here for 3 days and I couldn't be more happy with a facility that stands apart from the rest. They connected with us everyday via text and sent pictures and report cards to let us know their status in regards to their health and mental well being. I picked them up and Willow and Rylee seemed to be happy and well cared for. I would definitely bring them back when I am in town again " - Laura M.
