17-Year-Old Shot Dead At Marietta Home Identified

A 17-year-old was shot inside a home in Marietta early Sunday. A potential witness is being sought, police said.

MARIETTA, GA -- A 17-year-old was accidentally shot dead early Sunday at a Marietta home, authorities said. The shooting took place around 5:48 a.m. inside a home in the 700 block of Wilson Circle, Marietta police said.

The teen was identified as Miles Sanders, police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy said Monday in a news release.

Upon arrival, officers found the body of a man inside the home. Detectives have launched an investigation and are still conducting interviews, according to Marietta police.

"The death investigation is still active and the Marietta Police Investigative Division is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the male pictured below as a potential witness," McPhilamy said Monday.
