2 Die In Fiery Crash In East Cobb: Police

Two people died at the scene of a fiery crash early Tuesday along an East Cobb roadway, police say.

MARIETTA, GA -- Police in Cobb County are investigating a traffic accident that took the life of two people early Tuesday, authorities said. The crash occurred just after midnight on Lower Roswell Road at Ashforde Drive in East Cobb, police said.

Preliminary results from an investigation reveal that speed up was a factor in the crash, Cobb police spokesman Dana Pierce said in a news release. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

Investigators said that the driver of a white Dodge Challenger was going faster than the posted 40-mph speed limit when he apparently lost control on the wet roadway, Pierce said.
