Cobb Planning Commission Chairman To Resign

Cobb Board of Commissioners Chair Lisa Cupid made the announcement at Tuesday's board meeting, but did not know why he chose to resign.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Galt Porter, chair of the Cobb County Planning Commission, will resign from his role next month.

Cobb Board of Commissioners Chair Lisa Cupid announced the news at Tuesday's board meeting. Cupid and Commissioner Monique Sheffield, who appointed Porter, said they did not know why he was stepping down.

Porter chaired the planning commission for just over a year, and was recently the subject of a dispute between the planning commission and the Board of Commissioners when he publicly objected to a rezoning that commissioners had proposed for a section of county-owned property, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.
