Cobb Police To Celebrate National Night Out

Tuesday night's event at Jim Miller Park in Marietta will include public safety displays, music and an "Inflatable City" for kids.

MARIETTA, GA — On Tuesday night, the Cobb County Police Department will host National Night Out at Jim Miller Park at 2245 Callaway Road in Marietta. This national event takes place on the first Tuesday of August each year throughout the country. Its purpose is simple: To bring together public safety personnel and the citizens they serve for an evening of fun interaction.

This year marks the 35th year of National Night Out. According to the National Association of Town Watch, which introduced National Night Out in 1984, the event “enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.”

The first National Night Out involved 2.5 million citizens in 400 communities in 23 states. It has grown to 38 million citizens in 16,000 communities all across the nation.
