Dog Park, Coffee Shop, Bar Combo Coming To Marietta

Two Marietta residents are opening a combination dog park, coffee shop and bar in the city — the first of its kind in Cobb County.

MARIETTA, GA — A unique new business for dog lovers, coffee lovers and craft beer connoisseurs alike is coming to the city of Marietta.

Marietta City Council members approved the sale of a 1-acre property at 942 Roswell Street for the development of Drafty Dane Park & Pint, a new combination dog park, coffee shop and bar, according to a Thursday press release from the city of Marietta.

Two local residents — Brennen and Emily Matthews — are behind the business.

"The city of Marietta is excited to welcome this concept and its transformative impact," the release said. "This venture is the first of its kind in Cobb County and will be a unique draw for canines and their companions across the region."

The off-leash, members-only dog park will include an artificial turf, water feature and shaded seating areas, and will offer live music, events and food trucks. The 3,000-square-foot bar and retail space will offer locally-sourced coffee and alcoholic beverages, according to the release.

Council approved the sale of the property at its May 12 meeting for $365,000. A timeline for when Drafty Dane will open has not yet been finalized.
