'Fashion Star' Recap: Parrott's No-Sale Night

You can't buy Sarah Parrott's designs for the first time this season.

Marietta fashion star Sarah Parrott had her first taste of TV failure Tuesday night when her bikinis got no takers from the three buyers.

So for the first time you couldn’t buy Parrott’s designs online right after the weekly episode of NBC’s Fashion Star.

It was “outside the box” night on Week 6, and Parrott pushed herself by diving into swimsuits.

“I might not be a design veteran, but I am a compulsive shopper and a bikini hoarder and when I buy swimwear I buy bikinis,” The 31-year-old Marietta mom wrote on her show blog, although she said during the show that she doesn’t wear bikinis.

She tried to add some excitement with an asymmetrical design including a cutout on the right hip, but the mentors and judges just looked bored.

Jessica Simpson said flashier colors than red, black and turquoise, and white and turquoise would have worked better for Parrott.

“Were they the best color options, probably not,” Parrott blogged. “They were however cute and over alI I think people would buy them. Will you get opportunity to...ehhhh, no.”

Parrott got some love for her bikinis from fans.

“Really wish it had been bought because we totally would have purchased it!” Friends of Fashion Star posted on Parrott’s public Facebook page. “The red one looked great!”

Parrott said she loved the red one as well.

But after being the only designer on the show to —albeit to the same store, H&M, every time—Parrott faced the threat of elimination for the first time.

Facing the judges with three other no-sale designers, she secured a spot in the final eight when Barbara Bates was bounced for missing badly with a Bohemian look.

It’s on to Week 7, “mentors’ choice,” when previews promise Parrott will battle mounting self-doubt under the tutelage of Simpson.
