Free Meals For Cobb Youth Offered At County Libraries
Children under age 18 in Cobb County can get free meals starting Tuesday from several of the county's libraries this summer.
COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County youth and children under age 18 have multiple ways of getting meal help, even if school is out for the summer.
Starting Tuesday, six Cobb libraries started offering free Summer Food Service Program distribution events, which will continue on other dates through the end of July. Those age 18 and younger will receive seven days worth of breakfast and lunch emergency meals on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The drive-thru distributions will be held in the parking lots of the following six locations, dates and times:

Tuesdays from June 8-29
- 10-11 a.m. at Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta
- Noon-1 p.m. at Gritters Library, 880 Shaw Park Road, Marietta
- 2-3 p.m. at Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta
Thursdays from June 10-July 29

- 10 a.m.-noon at Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St., Marietta
- 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Stratton Library, 1100 Powder Springs Road, Marietta
Fridays from June 11-July 29
- 10 a.m.-noon at South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton
Cobb County Public Library and Mableton-based Georgia Educational Resources (GER) banded together to host the summer meal distributions, according to a news release.
“We’re a learning organization and children struggle to learn when they are hungry,” Terri Tresp, CCPL's division director of branch services, said. “We worked with GER last summer at one library location. This year, we’re thrilled to be able to expand service to more residents.”
Cobb County School District and Marietta City Schools are also offering free meals for children age 18 and younger through the end of July. You do not have to be a student to be eligible for those meals.
