Happy Mother’s Day From Ragin Edwards
"You have been a superb role model in more ways than one."
In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Ragin Edward's letter to her mom:
Dear Mom AKA Obie Wan,
There are no words to express how blessed, honored and lucky I am to have a mother like you! You are loving and kind, always honest and not afraid to be stern when the situation calls for it.
You have been a superb role model in more ways than one, an ally and a best friend. You showed me how to be a hard worker. Before retiring, you excelled in commercial real-estate, and traveled the world in your profession. You were dedicated and kept your integrity, even in situations where you were treated unfairly.
You have always been a civil servant. When I was young, you took me with you to feed the homeless at shelters. You visited disabled children at underprivileged schools and helped pack grocery bags for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners during the holidays.
You are an amazing grandmother, and my daughters love and trust you. They listen to you and gleam every time they see you.
You supported my run for office in House District 37, and you have been instrumental in the success of this campaign. I have said all of this to say, I love you and Happy Mother's Day!
