Marietta Approves Lease For Atlanta United
Arthur Blank's Major League Soccer franchise will invest $60 million in the facility.

MARIETTA -- Arthur Blank’s Atlanta United FC officially has a new home. And it’s in Marietta.
On Wednesday, the city council approved a lease with the Major League Soccer franchise to build a $60 million facility, including several multi-purpose fields and a team office building, reports the AJC.
The city owns the property, which once housed the Preston Chase apartment complex. Atlanta United will rent the property from the city for $1 a year for 10 years, and then $320,000 per year for the next decade.

The city is also building three soccer fields next to Atlanta United’s complex, and will allow the team access to those fields.
The franchise had been negotiating with DeKalb County for a site in the I-285/Memorial Drive corridor, but that deal fell through after complaints that the negotiating process lacked transparency.
