Marietta To Get High School Technical Academy
The College and Career Academy will prepare Marietta High School students for 21st century jobs: governor's office.

MARIETTA, GA — A new state-supported technical academy will give Marietta High School students an edge in the the 21st century workplace. The board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) has approved a $3 million grant to establish a new College and Career Academy in Marietta, Gov. Nathan Deal announced Friday.
The board also approved $3 million grants to establish academies in Greene and Paulding counties. The grants will be matched with local funding to meet startup costs, construction and initial staffing, the governor's office said.
“Many of Georgia’s current and future employment opportunities require some form of education beyond high school,” Deal said. The mission of the academies is to bring together local schools and technical colleges to better prepare students to enter today's workforce.

Chattahoochee Technical College will collaborate with local partners to create the Marietta High School College and Career Academy in Marietta, as well as the Paulding County academy in Dallas, the governor's office said.
The College and Career academies have encouraged high school students to dually enroll in college, said TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin. Last year, more than 21,000 high school students received credits at a Georgia technical college.
