Marietta, New Pro Soccer Team Set to Sign Lease on Wednesday

Atlanta United will build its new headquarters and training complex around Marietta's Franklin Road area.

MARIETTA, GA -- Atlanta United and city officials are expected to sign a lease on Wednesday that officially brings Arthur Blank’s Major League Soccer franchise to Marietta.

Six lighted soccer fields and an office building will be located on 13 acres near the Franklin Road area, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The city owns the property, which once housed the Preston Chase apartment complex. Atlanta United will rent the property from the city for $1 a year for 10 years, and then $320,000 per year for the next decade.
