Marietta Woman Among Court Reporting Graduates

She is one of nine graduates across metro Atlanta.

Erlesia Larkins of Marietta is one of nine students who will earn court reporting certificates from the Brown College of Court Reporting later this month.

Larkins will receive that certificate during a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. July 27 at the Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta.

"As our graduates have a 98 percent employment rate," executive director Sue Schmith said in a statement, "we are confident that the other seven graduates will soon find work after completing their licensing exams."

The demand for court reporters is expected to grow 14 percent through 2020, according to the Department of Labor. In 2010, the median annual salary for court reporters was $47,710, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The top 10 percent earned more than $91,280 a year.
