Paulding Man Arrested In House Party Shooting: Reports

Police accuse the Paulding County man of firing a gun into a crowd and killing Rodney "Ty" Koen, 20.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A Paulding County man has been arrested and charged with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Powder Springs resident, according to media reports. Police accuse Austin James Postell of firing into a crowd at a weekend house party and killing Rodney Tyreek Koen II early Sunday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Postell is being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm, according to media reports.

The shooting was reported at 12:40 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 4600 block of Hunter Road in Powder Springs. Officers arrived at the house party to find Koen lying on the front walkway of the residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The party was described as a “coming home” gathering for a friend in the military, the AJC reported.
