Search Continues for Missing Woman Reportedly Dropped Off at Cartersville Motel

Bartow County officials say they are continuing the search for a Marietta woman who reportedly was dropped off at a Cartersville motel and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Deborah Lee Crawford, 41, has been missing since Aug. 19, but Bartow County authorities became aware of her disappearance 10 days later, on Aug. 29, when a friend reported to Canton police that she had left Crawford in Bartow's jurisdiction, Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a news release. 

The missing person investigation had started with Cobb County police, because Crawford lived there, and was later transferred to the Canton Police Department after a friend first reported that she had left Crawford in the Kmart parking lot at 1750 Marietta Highway to meet another friend.

Canton police later discovered Crawford's friend had given false information after she said that she did not leave Crawford there, but left her at a motel off Interstate 75 at Cass-White Road in Bartow County. The friend, who told police she believed Crawford wanted to "get away" from her current life, was later arrested by Canton police for allegedly lying during the investigation.

Millsap said since Aug. 19, no one has been known to have seen or spoken with Crawford. Investigators cannot confirmed that Crawford was dropped off at the Cass-White Road motel in Cartersville, but investigators with Bartow County Sheriff's Office continue to consider her missing from that location, without further information.

Crawford's family is concerned about her wellbeing, as she has suffered from depression and may have undiagnosed mental disorders, they told authorities.
