Sprayberry Crossing Advances, But Without Recommendation
The Sprayberry Crossing project will advance to Cobb commissioners, but without approval or denial from the Cobb County Planning Commission.

COBB COUNTY, GA — The impending redevelopment of Sprayberry Crossing is on the docket for Cobb County Board of Commissioners' approval later this month — but without any recommendation for approval or denial from the Cobb County Planning Commission.
It's a standard practice for the Cobb County Planning Commission to give Cobb commissioners its recommendation for approving or denying a project like Sprayberry Crossing before commissioners give a final vote.
But at Tuesday's Planning Commission meeting, Planning Commissioner Deborah Dance said there were still too many unresolved issues with Sprayberry Crossing for its representatives to recommend approving or denying its construction.

“Time is of the essence, and there is a time for taking action,” Dance, who represents the area, said during her motion to advance the project forward to the Cobb commissioners.
Atlantic Residential — the developer of the Sprayberry Crossing project at East Piedmont and Sandy Plains roads — will include office and retail space, a Lidl grocery store, 44 townhomes, 125 units for residents age 55 and older, and 125 apartments in the project, Patch previously reported.

Atlantic's attorney Kevin Moore called the decision to advance the project without recommendation "highly unusual," the Marietta Daily Journal reported, saying he's only seen this done a handful of times in the last 25 years.
Traffic safety and ease of access to the property — without interfering with parking for other stores in the shopping center — were the main concerns brought up during the meeting.
Moore said he and the team at Atlantic Residential will be working to resolve the remaining issues, where possible, before the Board of Commissioners considers the proposal at the June 15 meeting, the MDJ reported.
