Would-Be Robber Shoots Gantt's Clerk

The gunman fails to break into the cash registers after wounding the employee at the Marietta store late Wednesday.

A clerk was shot in the arm Wednesday night during an unsuccessful robbery attempt.

A man walked into the store at 1033 Franklin Rd. about 11 p.m., immediately pulled out a silver-colored pistol and fired one shot at the fleeing Gantt’s employee, said in a news release.

The shot hit the store clerk in the right arm.

Security video from the store shows that the gunman then tried to open the two cash registers and ran away after he failed, police said.

The culprit is a 5-foot-10 black man with a medium build who was wearing a red-and-blue scarf, a dark-colored hooded jacket, dark pants and red gloves, the Nixle news release says. The scarf covered part of his face.

The clerk was taken to with a wound that was not life-threatening, police said.
