AJC Peachtree Road Race Goes All Virtual
The AJC Peachtree Road Race is still set for Thanksgiving Day, but it'll now be a virtual race.
MIDTOWN, GA — The AJC Peachtree Road Race will be held virtually this year. Organizers initially announced in May that the annual July 4th race would be pushed to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The AJC Peachtree Road Race was rescheduled to Thanksgiving, but now the Atlanta Track Club says it’ll have to be all virtual.
They said a “virtual race was the safest option for participants, volunteers, staff, and the hundreds of city and state employees, many of whom are first responders, who come together to help deliver the event to Atlanta each year.”

They said their initial decision to postpone until Thanksgiving Day was made after consultation with medical experts, public safety officials and city leaders.
“All believed that a late fall race offered the best chance for an in-person Peachtree. As the summer has progressed, there continues to be too many uncertainties concerning COVID-19 to hold a mass participation event,” they said on their website.

The virtual race is set for Nov. 26. Participants can complete the 10K between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. People who have already registered for the Peachtree will be automatically placed into the virtual event. Atlanta Track Club is not offering additional refunds or deferrals. MORE INFO HERE.
The AJC Peachtree Road is one of the nation's signature July 4 events, and is the largest 10K in the world. Last year's race drew 60,000 participants. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms served as an official starter at Lenox Square, kicking off the race before she walked the course with her staff for the second straight year.
