Holiday Specials: Local Midtown Atlanta Restaurants Spread Holiday Cheer

Find out who has special offerings this Christmas and New Year's.

·         On Tuesday, December 24, South City Kitchen Midtown is open for a Christmas Eve feast from 5-9 p.m. For $45 for adults and $22.50 for children under 12, a three-course prix fixe menu is offered. Each guest can choose one appetizer, entrée and dessert. Some menu options include old Charleston she-crab soup with fresh cream and sherry; roasted turkey breast with giblet gravy, cornbread dressing, collard greens, whipped potatoes and orange-cranberry sauce; pan-seared salmon with mushroom farrotto, arugula salad with port wine vinaigrette; and Southern chocolate pecan pie. ·         10th & Piedmont serves its regular menu on New Year’s Eve for guests looking for a bite to eat before heading to a holiday party. The restaurant’s sharable items are perfect for groups of friends to enjoy before a night on the town. The restaurant is also serving a New Year’s Day brunch buffet for $19 per person. ·         Atlantans can make their lives easier during the busy holiday season with Bantam + Biddy’s family meals. For $45, three to five family members or friends can take home a whole rotisserie chicken, meatloaf or herb-roasted pork loin, served with a family-sized organic green salad, cornbread (gluten-free bread upon request), choice of dressing, three family-sized sides and a half-gallon of fresh brewed tea. Guests can phone in their order and pick it up curb-side from the restaurant. Family meals are for take-out only and 30 minutes advance notice is required. On Wednesday, January 1, Bantam + Biddy celebrates New Year’s Day the traditional Southern way with a special menu featuring honey-glazed ham, stewed black-eyed peas, braised collard greens, cornbread and country gravy.  Sweet potato pie or carrot cake sweetens the first-of-the-year celebration. ·         Article 14 in Midtown has a special menu for New Year’s Eve. Salads include a simple garden, Little Gem and Kale Yeah ($7-$10). Then move on to starters of soup, bacon-wrapped dates or she-crab mussels ($6-$13) and small plates such as housemade chips with Vidalia onion dip, okra chips, southern spiced Georgia pecans, pimento cheese, salumi, deviled eggs, chopped chicken liver and a duck confit slider ($3-$11). Among the evening’s entrées are a farmers market risotto with poached farm egg, pan-roasted sea scallops with pulled duck and crispy bacon, pan-roasted chicken with Anson Mills grits and grilled skirt steak. ·         G’s Midtown is hosting a festive celebration for New Year’s Eve, complete with party favors for attendees.  The full menu is available, and at 10 p.m., a DJ starts spinning tunes. ·         Gunshow celebrates New Year’s Eve with a special ticketed dinner event. On Tuesday, December 31, the restaurant pulls out all the stops with 10-course dinner with wine and champagne pairings. Seating reservations can be made for 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8:45 or 9:15 p.m. The dinner is $200 per person and tickets much be purchased by Saturday, December 28 by phone or in person at the restaurant (tax and gratuity included).
