Lanes Of Peachtree Closed In Midtown

The lanes were closed Friday so crews could work on what was believed to be a water main break.

ATLANTA, GA — Two lanes of Peachtree Street in Midtown are closed Friday as crews work on what appears to be a water main leak.

The westbound lanes are closed between 8th Street and Peachtree Place. City officials say the work should be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, but one lane will remain closed until Tuesday to protect the work site.

Traffic-control measures will be in place to guide drivers around the works zone, but motorists are urged to use caution and avoid the area if possible.

The lane closures come as Atlanta is already primed for tons of traffic and large crowds due to a number of large events going on in the city over Labor Day weekend.
