Marietta Man Charged In Midtown Accident That Killed Teen, Baby

A Marietta man was arrested and charged for a hit-and-run that killed a teen and baby.

MIDTOWN, GA — The driver who hit and killed a teen and baby in Midtown earlier this month was arrested Friday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the Marietta man was arrested in Cobb County after using a stolen credit card and giving a fake name to police, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Investigators said Shamir Lashawn Floyd, 28, was driving a BMW and as he approached 10th Street, he crashed into a Nissan Altima that was stopped.

The right rear passenger, 18-year-old Anjanae McClain, was pronounced dead at the scene. The baby was critically injured and rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, before being transported to Children's Medical at Egleston. The baby died later, according to family. Three other passengers of the Altima were injured and are listed as stable.

He was booked into the Cobb County Jail on Friday evening, jail records show. He faces two counts of felony murder, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, felony fleeing, felony hit-and-run, reckless driving, speeding, and several other traffic charges stemming from the police chase. He was also charged with credit card fraud and providing a false name.
