Meet 'Autoeater,' The New Sculpture At Peachtree And 10th In Midtown

"Autoeater" is the name of the latest art installation commissioned by the Midtown Alliance.

ATLANTA, GA -- If you've passed by the intersection of Peachtree and 10th streets lately you can't help but notice the monstrous artwork on the corner. It's white and looks like a car -- or half of one -- being eaten. The new installation is called "Autoeater," and was commissioned by the Midtown Alliance.

The latest addition to the alliance's burgeoning public art program, Autoeater features the contour of a Carrara marble Fiat Panda being swallowed. "The sculpture invites comment on Atlanta’s relationship with the automobile in the context of one of the city’s most walkable urban districts.," an alliance press release says.
