The independent theater announced Tuesday plans to show "The Interview" following hacker threats against theaters that screen the film.

The Plaza Atlanta movie theater announced Tuesday via Twitter plans to screen “The Interview” starting Christmas Day.

The independent theater, located at 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave. North, is one of just a handful in the nation with plans to show the film.

Sony Pictures axed the movie’s theatrical release Dec. 17 following hacker threats of violence against theaters showing the film.

On Nov. 24, Sony Pictures fell victim to a group of hackers calling themselves “Guardians of Peace” that destroyed the company’s computer systems and stole large amounts of personal and commercial data, the FBI reports. The hacking escalated to threats to attack theaters showing the film, which depicts the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. On Friday, the FBI officially attributed the cyber attacks to the North Korean government.

The Plaza Atlanta’s show times for “The Interview” are 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 9:35 p.m. The theater tweeted that subsequent showings from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1 will be released Wednesday.
