Residential Tower Getting $4M Facelift

The Midtown tower will be converted into loft space with retail planned for the ground floor, according to documents filed with the city.

Developers are planning to transform a residential tower in Midtown into a mixed-use space featuring lofts and ground floor retail, according to documents submitted to the City of Atlanta.

According to the documents, work will begin soon to convert the 7-story, 88,879 sq. ft. apartment tower at 549 Peachtree St. NE into “The Byron,” a space featuring loft apartments and retail. Costs of the conversion are estimated at $4 million.

“Work includes interior demolition and replacement of building systems as well as exterior upgrades on levels 2 - 7,” documents filed with the city say.

What Now Atlanta says retail concerns will be handled by Vantage Realty Partners, who plans to offer 1,500 to 3,000 sq. ft. retail spaces on the ground floor.
