Road closures begin 9 am on Saturday for one of the nation's oldest St. Patrick's Day parades.

ATLANTA -- One of the nation's oldest St. St. Patrick’s Day parades will happen Saturday in Midtown Atlanta, stepping off at noon. Atlanta's parade was started by the city’s Hibernian Benevolent Society, a Catholic and Protestant fraternal organization, and dates back to 1858. Produced by Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade, Inc., the parade features representatives from the various Irish groups that are an integral part of Atlanta’s Irish community. Members of the Hibernian Benevolent Society, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Clan Na NGael, Fire Emerald Society of Metro Atlanta, the Irish Information Center and the Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society are all active members and participants.
The parade begins at 12 p.m. at 15th Street NE & Peachtree Street NE and will travel south on Peachtree Street NE until reaching 5th Street NE. Road closures begin at 9 am and will last until 3 pm.

Parade organizers are asking anyone who wants to see the parade to to arrive by 11 am for the best viewing opportunities along the route. Organizers are encouraging spectators to consider taking MARTA, using either the Midtown or Arts Center station. Also, the following parking decks will be open:
