Street Racing Continues, Nearly 100 Cited Over Weekend

The Atlanta Police Department have been cracking down on the ongoing street racing problem in Atlanta.

MIDTOWN, GA — Street racing is still an issue in Fulton County and Atlanta police said they are addressing the ongoing problem.

Over the weekend, APD made nearly 100 citations and 43 traffic stops, reported WSB. Two cars were also impounded. Since the pandemic started, cameras and viral social media videos have been capturing the illegal racing and large crowds that gather to watch.

Gov. Brian Kemp thanked several agencies earlier this month for their efforts to curb the street racing. Kemp said the Georgia State Patrol, Cobb Police Department, Gwinnett Sheriff's Office, DeKalb County Police Department and the Clayton County Police Department, along with Atlanta Police, made 175 traffic stops on Sept. 19.
