Ensures continued high-quality healthcare for the thousands of Cigna patients within the Wellstar Health System network through May 2024

Wellstar Health System and Cigna have reached a new agreement that will help ensure continued high-quality healthcare for the thousands of Cigna patients within the Wellstar Health System network.
The new agreement took effect April 1 and extends through May 2024. Included in the new agreement are accountable care arrangements tied to quality performance that will continue to enhance the value-based care provided to employers as well as patients and customers.
“Wellstar and Cigna have a long history of working together to serve our community,” said Barbara Corey, senior vice president of managed care at Wellstar Health System. “We have a shared mission of improving health and well-being for our patients and providing value-based care for patients and consumers. “This agreement builds on our mutual efforts to provide Georgia customers with access to value-based, quality care by the skilled providers in the Wellstar network,” said Bryan Holgerson, Cigna market president for Georgia/Alabama. “Together, we can make the healthcare experience simpler for our clients and customers, and help improve the health of the communities we serve.”
The strength and longevity of the relationship between Wellstar and Cigna, and the ability to come to terms on a new agreement is a boon, especially during a global pandemic. In the face of unprecedented challenges to community health and healthcare providers, the agreement brings stability, continuity, and consistency to patient access to healthcare.
