Suspect Found Dead: 47 Year-Old Woman Shot and Killed Outside 1230 Peachtree

The shooting happened near 15th Street, across from the Arts Center.

UPDATE (5 p.m.) According to Sgt. Greg Lyon, "around 2:00pm this afternoon, Atlanta Police Investigators traveled to Clayton County and with the assistance of Clayton County Police, executed a search and arrest warrant for the individual  wanted in connection with today’s homicide at 1230 Peachtree St NE.  The individual was located inside his residence deceased from a gunshot wound.  The scene appears consistent with a suicide, however, the Clayton County Medical Examiner will make the final determination as to cause of death."

Atlanta - (12 p.m.) Midtown Patch continues to share the preliminary details about a woman being shot and killed outside of 1230 Peachtree St., near 15th Street, Wednesday morning.

According to APD, they received a shots fired call around 6:45 a.m., and Zone 5 officers responded to the scene.

According to Officer Kim Jones, "upon arrival, officers encountered the female victim who was shot several times."

Homicide investigators are still on the scene gathering information.  Crime scene tape can bee seen on the 15th Street side of the building, facing the Woodruff Arts Center.  

Witnesses told the Atlanta Police that, " the female was going to her work site when she was approached by a male. The male also works at this location."  

According to Officer Jones, "witnesses stated that the victim and the male spoke for a moment before he produced a pistol and shot her several times. The male then fled the scene."  

The latest update from APD is that this appears to stem from a domestic dispute in some sort of way, but it is not fully clear.  

The Medical Examiner of Fulton County identified the victim as 47-year-old Bridgette Holt of Hampton, GA. She was transported to Grady, where she died from her injuries.

Atlanta Police Homicide units are actively pursuing leads in this case, as the suspect is still on the loose.
