Final Section of Highway 11 Bypass in Social Circle to be Completed by 2015
The $8.1 million project will extend 2.7 miles from the existing northern bypass to State Route 11 at the Walton and Newton County line.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on Monday that completion of the Social Circle Bypass is one of the 34 projects totalling $75 million that have been scheduled for completion.
In a press release, GDOT officials pointed out that leaders in Social Circle have been waiting since 2002 to develop a bypass. The $8.1 million project will be built by E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. of Snellville and is schedule to open in the fall of 2015.
According to the press release, every day as many as 5,000 tractor trailers and other vehicles travelling to and from Interstate Highway 20 and State Route 11 have to navigate through Social Circle’s downtown historic district. With a major medical manufacturing facility locating nearby, area traffic is expected to increase exponentially.
