Get a Jump on Spring With a Visit to the State Botanical Garden in Athens

As each season approaches the botanical garden changes also. Each season carries its own beauty and uniqueness.

Visiting the State Botanical Garden of Georgia will become a scheduled event for you each new season. There is no question that the botanical garden is the perfect place for the photographer enthusiast. Often you will see photographers with their camera equipment and tri-pods swung over their shoulders searching for just the right spot to set up to start capturing beautiful photos. I have also even seen painters with their easels, painting.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia  is among one of the most beautiful gardens I have visited. The garden is at 2450 S. Milledge Avenue. It is open every day except for official UGA holidays so it is always best to check the website for hours. A day at the garden is a wonderful idea for a family outing.

As you are exploring the 313 acres of the garden, you will notice different sections are devoted to different types of flowers. During my recent visit to the garden I felt blessed because of the flowers that were in bloom. Living in the south, I find winter does not last that long so flowers begins to bloom early. You will see beautiful Leonard Messel Magnolias, delicate white Pearlbush flowers, red, white and pink camellias, tulip tree flowers and spectacular apple-blossom flowers.  Of course, you will see daffodils everywhere especially different variations of them.

It is not too late to grab your camera and head to the gardens to do some early spring photography. On warmer days it is relaxing and soothing to be in nature. If you want to make a day of it, pack a lunch and have a picnic out on the beautiful lawn, or if you are just in the mood for a cup of coffee, you can sit and relax inside the café. Be sure to check their website often because they offer a lot of different special events and tours. Once you visit the botanical garden, you will make it a point to go back and visit often.
