K of C Council #14425 Receives ' Double Star Council Award"

Kevin York, State Knights of Columbus Program Director, presented the coveted and prestigious award, “Double Star Council”. The Award was presented to St. Anna’s Council #14425 in Monroe, Georgia, to its former Grand Knight (2016-2017) Jerry Hobbs, Don Nye, Membership Chairman, and Don Williams, Program Director. This award was achieved by only three councils in the State of Georgia for their dedication to the order in achieving the highest standards of excellence for leadership in Service Programs: Church, Community, Council, Family, Culture of Life and Youth.
The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment (reaching 200 percent of quota, thereby making it a "double star") and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service-oriented activities.
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic lay organization. It counts more than 1.7 million members in 13,000 councils around the world. The organization donates more than $143 million and 68 million service hours to charitable causes.
In announcing the local winner of the Star Council Award, Carl A. Anderson, chief executive officer, said, "Please accept my sincere congratulations upon attaining this prestigious award. Your dedication to the Order is seen in the high standard of excellence you have achieved. At the same time, I encouraged you to carry forward this enthusiasm to meet the challenges that will face the Knights of Columbus in the years ahead. May this be a reminder and an inspiration to the members of your council to continue to promote the ideals of Columbianism for the good of the Church, your community, and the Order."
