Scammers Claim to Be with Microsoft, Comcast: Sheriff's Calls

Zone 1
Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Jersey Walnut Grove Road and the creek. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.

Damage to Property- A residence off Phillips Drive homeowner reported an unknown person cut the wiring to a catalytic converter and removed the driveshaft off a vehicle on their property.
Zone 5
Accident- Deputies responded to an accident in the area of Piney Brook Drive and Etchinson Road. No life threatening injuries, but motorist transported to Clearview. Georgia State Patrol handled the scene of the accident.
Fraud- A resident in the area of Mohansic Avenue reported and unknown person unlawfully used their debit card.
Theft- A residence off Meadow Wood Lane caller reported someone took their Stihl chainsaw.
Fraud- A residence off Nicholsville Road complaint reported they received a call from an unknown person claiming to be with Microsoft. Complaint let the caller gain remote access to their computer. The computer was reported to have been hacked and could not be restored.
Fraud- A residence off White Oak Road subject reported an unknown person claiming to be with Xfinity/Comcast called and told them they were running a special promotion. Complainant then reported to have received a letter and Western Union credit card in the mail. They were then instructed to deposit $1,000 on the card and Comcast would withdrawal the homeowner’s monthly bill from the card. Complainant made two $500 deposits and $980.00 was deducted from the card.

Stolen Vehicle- At a business off Highway 20 employee reported a 2006 Nissan Sentra was stolen from the location. Vehicle was entered into the national database.
Zone 7
Accident- Deputies responded to an accident in the area of Highway 138 and H D Atha Road. No injuries. Georgia State Patrol handled the scene of the accident.
Suspicious Vehicle- At Arnold Chapel Baptist Church complainant reported a female in a green Nissan was in the area looking from someone selling eggs. No contact.
Prowler- A residence off New Horizon Drive homeowner reported hearing an unknown subject on the front porch. Deputies checked the area. No contact.
